This 22,200-tonne luxury passenger liner was commandeered as a WW2 troop ship that was a carrier vessel only; never meant to see combat. In 1942, when approaching allied harbour, a navigation misinformation resulted the vessel to hit a mine.

The Captain steered the vessel onto the shore reef where the troops could evacuate safely. Everything (literally) was left behind, as it was believed they would later on be able to salvage items. However, this beautiful vessel decided it was her time to go, and she gracefully slid off the reef and landed on her port side stern taking all troops belongs, ammo and supplies with her.

The result is a diver’s playground where artefacts can still be found until today. With incredible sites ranging from 20 meters at the bow and up to 70 meters at the stern, beginners and experienced technical divers are all catered for.
