Discover simple to follow steps for Emergency Care. This course focuses on building confidence in lay rescuers and increasing their willingness to respond when faced with a medical emergency.

On this course you will learn how to respond when facing emergency situations. To be certified in Primary Care (CPR and rescue breathing) and Secondary Care (First Aid) is reassuring and very valuable, not just for diving, but also in our daily lives. This course will teach you how to respond to emergency situations pertaining to adults, children, and also infants.

The EFR (Emergency First Responder) course is based on internationally recognised medical guidelines for emergency care and meet training requirements for the PADI Rescue Diver Course or any PADI professional qualifications.

 

Program Structure

The EFR course is a one evening program, starting at 6:00pm at Frog Dive Scuba Centre and finishing around 9:30pm, depending on the group. The class consists in knowledge development, practice of skills and rescue scenarios.

Prior the class, the student must complete the knowledge development portion via EFR E-Learning.

 

You will learn the basic steps and actions of a First Responder:

  • Risk evaluation and using barriers
  • Injury assessment
  • Rescue breathing and CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)
  • Bleeding management
  • Responding to choking victims
  • Shock management
  • Bandaging and applying splints

 

The EFR Curriculum:

PRIMARY CARE – LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCIES (CPR)

  • Scene assessment and risk evaluation
  • Applying barriers
  • Primary assessment and opening the airway
  • Rescue breathing
  • One-person CPR on an adult, child, and infant
  • Managing severe bleeding
  • Shock management
  • Spinal injury management 

SECONDARY CARE – FIRST AID

  • Injury assessment
  • Illness assessment
  • Bandaging
  • Splinting for fractures and dislocations

 

Requirements

There are no requirements for this course: everybody is welcome, and we strongly recommend anyone to do it.
