How the course works
Knowledge Development
Prior the in-water sessions, you will need to complete the PADI Online Training, where you will learn about the physics & physiology of diving and how it affects your body. Diving is a fun sport, but there are important rules of what to do to keep it safe and enjoyable.
This theory is done online with the PADI eLearning. That means do it at your convenience. You won’t have to endure hours long of an instructor talking or a 3 hours video after a hard day at work when you are half asleep. Diving is Fun and we want to keep it that way!
In-Water Sessions
The PADI Open Water Diver is done over 3 days, with one day in the pool and the other two days in the ocean. A general schedule would be:
Day #1: Frog Dive Store/Confined Water dive
We head to a local heated pool and learn the step by steps of all diving skills you will need to know. Training session starts at 8am (unless previously advised) and should finish around 4pm, but it depends on the group and that could change for earlier or later.
With time to spare and in a controlled environment you can build up your diving skills and confidence prior to getting into open water.
Transport is provided and you will be back at Frog Dive no later than 4pm.
Day #2: Open Water Dives – usually held in Clifton Gardens (Mosman)*
After the pool session, it’s time to put all those skills you have learnt to use. We are going to do 2 dives, with a selection of skills in each one. The best part? There will be plenty of time to go for a real dive around and see lots of cool stuff!
You will need to provide transportation to and from the dive site, as well as food and drinks for in between dives. Meet with your instructor at 7:45am at the dive site. Usually the training session is over at the beach around 1pm, you will need to return to the shop to refill tanks and do paperwork. Usually the day is done around 2:30pm at the shop.
Day #3: Open Water Dives – usually held in Shelly Beach (Manly)*
Last training day and we are 2 dives away from becoming certified divers!
You will notice the massive progress you have done till here and that be underwater became much easier and comfortable. Go for a dive, enjoy the day out and have fun!
Same as day #2, you will need to provide transportation to and from the dive site, as well as food and drinks for in between dives. Meet with your instructor at 7:45am at the dive site. Usually training session is over at the beach around 1pm, you will need to return to the shop to gear care and finish your paperwork. Usually the day is done around 3:00pm at the shop.
